The San Diego Padres lost another key player.

Padres general manager A.J. Preller reported Musgrove's injury at a meeting with local media, including "97.3 The Fan," ahead of the official training session at Dodger Stadium on the 5th (Korea Standard Time).

"I was hoping to bring good news," he said. "I had an MRI scan yesterday and found an injury to my medial collateral ligament (UCL). I need surgery. I will undergo Tommy John surgery."

Due to the nature of the surgery, which takes 12 to 18 months only during the rehabilitation period, he will not be able to play until the 2025 season as well as this postseason.
Musgrove has been battling an elbow injury all season. He has been on the injured list twice. He returned from only 19 days off in the first, but was rested for more than two months in the second.

After returning from injury, he pitched well with a 2.15 ERA in nine games and started in Game 2 of the wild-card series, but was withdrawn during pitching in the fourth inning.

"I've had a problem for a while. When I got a checkup last summer, I was diagnosed with a time machine," Musgrove told local media. "I've had a problem for a long time."

"I'm not worried about rehabilitation or a long absence. It's shocking that I can't play until the end of the season," he said.

Manager Mike Shildt said, "It's tough to replace Musgrove. The good news is that we have trustworthy people in our team. We have a strong pitching staff. However, Musgrove can't be ignored. His presence is not to be ignored. He was really good after his return from injury. He was really good until he got hurt in the second game as well."

"He's a special guy, but we'll be fine and we'll fight. He'll be in our hearts, but he won't be with us on the mound," he said, adding that he will try to fill his void.

"We have three starting pitchers on standby. We will decide (to replace Musgrove) after seeing how the first three games go," Prelor said, declining to comment on the alternative plan.

San Diego is expected to lead the remaining postseason starting rotation with Dylan Shees and Darvish Yu, who are starters in Game 1 and Game 2, and Michael King, who pitched well in Game 1. 먹튀검증

The rest of the starters are Randy Vazquez, Matt Waldron, and Martin Perez. Perez is the first in terms of experience.

"Peraz is a big player in the team. He is one of the players who will come forward in this situation," Prelor said, acknowledging there is a chance he could be appointed.
